At the conclusion of the Town Hall Meeting on September 12th, Telework Exchange "planted" a money tree blossoming with $2 bills, in support of its campaign "Time is Money, and Money Doesn’t Grow on Trees...Telework." Attendees lined up to harvest valuable green and learn more about how they could save money by giving root to telework programs in their organizations.
In an effort to encourage more employers and employees to consider teleworking, Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) called for the creation of a "National Telework Week" as part of his ongoing efforts to promote telework.
On October 2nd, Rep. Wolf sent a letter to President Bush asking for the designation of "National Telework Week" as well as introduced a resolution in the House in support of "National Telework Week."

On November 7th, Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-IL) introduced the Telework Improvements Act of 2007. Notably, this legislation calls for improvement of telework programs in Federal agencies and incorporating telework in continuity of operations planning.
On November 14th, 2007, the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee unanimously approved Sens. Ted Stevens’ (R-AK) and Senator Mary Landrieu’s (D-LA) Telework Enhancement Act (S. 1000), legislation to expand telecommuting opportunities for federal employees. This telework program allows eligible members of the Federal workforce to avoid commutes by working from home or another remote site.
The General Services Administration (GSA) introduced its new telework center marketing and resource materials at the Telework Exchange Town Hall Meeting on September 12th. These new materials are available for agencies to download and tailor to meet their specific telework communications programs. The new materials also are posted at www.gsa.gov/teleworklibrary (see Telework Promotion Materials). Printed copies, including telework center posters, are available for distribution by calling 1-800-695-6105. The Commonwealth of Virginia is actively engaged in several telework initiatives, including Telework!VA, a program of the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation. Telework!VA offers expert technical assistance and financial incentives to private sector and non-profit organizations that are implementing or expanding an employee telework program.
Some of the items for which employers may receive partial or full reimbursement include laptops, communications devices and systems, remote connectivity servers, IT consulting, and telework center use. The Telework!VA Web site offers a variety of resources, and serves as a "one-stop shopping" source for individuals and organizations. Materials available on
