The "How Technology Enables Government Telework" Webcast highlighted two Federal agencies at different stages in their telework implementation process. Representatives from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) spoke about the current state of telework and where they are looking to take telework within their agency in the future, with particular emphasis on telework technologies. Attendees learned:

  • How DISA implemented a successful telework program
  • How DISA incorporated telework in their Continuity of Operations and recruitment and retention planning
  • How IRS is successfully piloting a telework program through their Virtual Office program
  • Lessons IRS learned from the pilot and how they are planning to expand in FY 09/10
  • What specific technologies agencies can use to enable and secure their telework pilots/programs
  • Key components to telework pilot/program success
